Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy

The Journal of Maternal and Child Health’s Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy establishes the mechanisms used to support the long-term preservation, redundancy, continued accessibility, and integrity of the journal’s published scholarly record. The journal implements the following preservation mechanisms:

1. Local Server Backups: The journal performs regular backups of its published articles, associated files, metadata, and journal database to support data recovery and minimize the risk of data loss. Backup procedures are designed to ensure that journal content and publication records can be restored in the event of technical failures or other data-loss incidents.

2. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): The journal supports digital preservation through the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) Preservation Network, which provides distributed preservation services for eligible journals using Open Journal Systems (OJS). This service helps safeguard published content against data loss and supports the long-term preservation of the scholarly record.

3.  LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): The journal participates in the LOCKSS program to create and preserve distributed copies of published content, allowing content to be restored if the original files are lost or damaged.

4.  CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): The journal participates in the CLOCKSS digital preservation network to support the long-term preservation of its published content and enable continued access in the event that the content is no longer available from the journal's website.

These preservation mechanisms are intended to safeguard the journal's published scholarly record against data loss, ensure the integrity of digital content, and support long-term access and availability.

This policy operates together with the Journal’s Open Access Policy, Copyright and Licensing, and Corrections, Retractions, and Article Removal Policy, as well as other applicable publishing and scholarly-record provisions.
