Aim and Scope
Aim:
Journal of Maternal and Child Health (JMCH) is an electronic, open access peer-reviewed journal that publishes research articles on a broad range of topics related to maternal and child health. The journal began its publication on July 11, 2015, and was published six times yearly. Due to an increasing demand of research work publication, starting Volume 4 Issue 5 the JMCH is published bi-monthly. This journal aims to improve knowledge in maternal and child health, and ultimately the health of maternal and child population worldwide.
Scope:
The Journal of Maternal and Child Health (JMCH) provides a platform for researchers, academics, and healthcare professionals to publish high-quality research evidence from both developed and developing countries. The journal primarily publishes original research articles and also welcomes systematic reviews, and/or meta-analyses relevant to maternal, child, adolescent, and reproductive health.
JMCH focuses on the publication of research evidence in maternal and child health, encompassing clinical, biological, reproductive, nutritional, and population-related perspectives. The journal aims to advance scientific knowledge and contribute to the improvement of health outcomes for women, mothers, infants, children, adolescents, and families across the life course.
The scope of JMCH is broad and interdisciplinary, encompassing, but not limited to, the following areas:
-
Obstetrics: Maternal health, pregnancy, childbirth, high-risk pregnancy, pregnancy complications, and maternal outcomes.
-
Gynecology: Women's health, gynecological conditions, menstrual health, and reproductive system disorders.
-
Reproductive and Sexual Health: Sexual and reproductive health, reproductive rights, fertility, infertility, and reproductive health across the life course.
-
Pediatrics: Child health, childhood diseases, child growth and development, and pediatric healthcare.
-
Neonatology: Newborn health, neonatal care, prematurity, neonatal morbidity and mortality, and neonatal outcomes.
-
Maternal and Child Nutrition: Maternal nutrition, infant and young child feeding, breastfeeding, nutritional status, micronutrient deficiencies, and nutritional interventions.
-
Family Planning: Contraception, birth spacing, fertility regulation, family planning services, and related reproductive health outcomes.
-
Reproductive Biology: The biological and physiological processes of human reproduction, reproductive endocrinology, gametogenesis, fertilization, embryonic development, and other biological aspects of reproductive health.
-
Population Studies and Demography: Population dynamics, fertility, mortality, family structure, population characteristics, and demographic factors related to maternal, child, adolescent, and family health.
JMCH encourages methodologically rigorous and ethically conducted research that contributes meaningful scientific evidence to maternal, child, adolescent, and reproductive health. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary studies that integrate clinical practice, biological sciences, reproductive health, nutrition, and population studies to address emerging and established challenges affecting women and children.
The journal considers submissions from diverse disciplines within its stated aims and scope, provided that they demonstrate scientific validity, methodological rigor, ethical integrity, and clear relevance to maternal, child, adolescent, reproductive, or family health. JMCH particularly encourages research addressing health needs and challenges in low- and middle-income countries, while welcoming high-quality contributions from researchers worldwide.
All articles published in JMCH are freely accessible to readers in accordance with the journal's open-access policy.
